Title: Woodmaster 4400 Baffle Rod Broke
Post by: terpjr on January 24, 2014, 07:55:31 PM
Hi guys,
Went out tonight, opened the chimney baffle on my 4400 and the rood kept pulling.  It appears the that the pin that holds it to the plate is b roke.  I think it is stuck in the closed position as I am getting hammered with smoke when the door is open.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?  What is the process to fix it?  It is dark and the fire was cookin' so it is not something I was going to tackle tonight but I would like to fix it asap as I come in the house smelling like I have a three pack a day habit.
Thanks!

Hey Steve,

Mine did the same thing.  Have you fixed it yet?  I ended up calling woodmaster and ask them about it, they guy I talked to said it is a 5/16 x 2 stainless steel bolt that hold them together.  I just have mine pushed all the way back right now.  He said in order to fix you have to climb in the firebox and manually slide out the plate and he said it is a slow process, then bolt it back onto the rod.

Let me know if you do this or if you have already done it, I'll be curious how it went.

It's not hard to do just nasty and hot if the fire is still going, trust me , been there, best to run it till spring if you can't shut it down and it won't hurt a thing.
