Where does the money come from to pay for it all?

My wife broke her ankle and I am in charge of cooking etc.  What I fixed for supper made me slightly sick.  I didn't want to go all out and  puke, so I didn't watch it.............

I can't stand to listen to him

Me either.  It seems like anyone in office, left or right could care less about you or I.  No sense worrying about things you can't change.  Is it 2017 yet?  :bash:

The last state of the union address I listened to was Reagan.  No one after that was worth listening to. My $0.02 worth.  Roger

I'm weird I guess, I've come to the conclusion there is no difference between an ass or an elephant, they all worry about getting re-elected regardless of the cost to the nation.

The current administration is so full of it they squish when they walk.

I'm starting to lean heavily toward Libertarians.

OOOOH don't say that to loud it scares people who don't know what we stand for, you should see the look on peoples faces when I proudly announce that I'm a Libertarian and then explain what it means, I'll try here, A libertarian believes you have the right to do as you please with your body and your property,(don't hurt anybody else ) and along with the liberty to do that you take the responsibility of your own actions

This president, the democrats, congress and the republicans are a sad joke! I'm 52 years old worked my tail off and still do daily. When I was 12 years old I got my first job after school and all day on weekends. On my 17th birthday I joined the Marine Corp. Now I work to pay for these fools on welfare, so they can get free cell phones, free food and housing. And drive a new car on the cash they saved by leaching off of the rest of us! While they walk around in public in the middle of the day in their damn pajamas! It should be that if you don't work you don't eat! Hunger is a great motivator!!! Socialism be damned. Semper Fi my brothers. I'm with you slim, I believe as you do!!!!

I believe in everything that the Libertarians stand for except to end the War on Drugs.  The only reason I care is because if they did I would be out of a job  :bash:

I lean mostly to the Right, but I'm an Athiest and they don't like my type!

AirForcePOL -

Those on the right who don't like you because you're an Atheist, are closed minded.  They have no clue what it means to be a Christian. But it's funny you that you brought this subject up.  As a Catholic, I attend bi-monthly adult religious education classes and the topic of Atheism came up last night.  The view of the Catholic church is that because you don't believe in a higher being, like me, that doesn't make you a bad person.  That's for God to judge not me because judging other people of their beliefs/non-beliefs is a sin so that makes those who judge no better than anyone else (Does that make sense?)  Unfortunately many people will interpret the Bible to fit their need.  Roger

I am in the fire service. Where I work we have what they call a 'Fire based EMS system' so we also work on the ambulance. Anybody that doesn't think this country is headed for the crapper needs to ride with us for a day and see how useless 90% of the people we service are. These people are all the people that elected this fool. They can't fend for themselves and are enabled by the democrats to take my hard earned money and get free health care, free housing, free food, free cell phones and on and on and on. If these people had lived 100 years ago or more they would have either died of starvation because they were to stupid to live or they would have figured it out. Same thing happens in nature, only the fit survive. Ever thought about calling an ambulance for your tooth ache? How about your ear pain that you have had for 3 months? I could go on and on.

We really need a like button on this site.

Hondaracer and so many others hit it dead on.

Again I'm weird I guess, I'm responsible for keeping my family fed and warm. We own beef cattle, plant a large garden and heat only with wood. None of that is the gov's business.

But unfortunately the rest of the country doesn't seem to agree anymore. According to them I'm on the fringe for not standing around with my hands out waiting for the gov to take care of me instead of doing it myself.

I used to be a republican, but any more republicans and democrats are damn near impossible to tell apart. I'm a constitutional conservative. If it ain't in the constitution, then the federal government has no business meddling in it. This includes banking, housing, healthcare, education and nutrition, all that is up to the states. Don't like how the state your living in is handling it? Then move.

Against gay marriage? Then move to a state that has laws against it. For it? Then move to a state that is for it. Hate guns? Then move to a state that banned their citizens second amendment rights. For guns? Then move to a state that is pro second amendment.

It's called voting with your feet.

That theory is exactly why all the old documents used to refer to this country as THESE United States, individual sovereign states, Abraham Lincoln ended that in the Civil war, Thanks for nothing Abe.

I'd love to leave upstate NY if it weren't for family and the beauty of the Catskills.  Trying to change politics on the state level is like herding cats.  Glad I live in a sensible county.  Need to get rid of Cuomo, his unconstitutional Safe Act and educate his supporters on the Constitution.  Everyone hates paying taxes, but the worst part is seeing the stupid things they're wasted on.

Least watched SOU address according to neilson.  It is a single party system right now, demicans and republicrats.  Rhinos and Dino's.
Reagan was the last true Strong American value president.  I am a conservative and a constitutionalist, and I feel anyone that has served 2 terms should be gone, now. If its good for the Prez, and so on.
The middle class is disappearing by design. No one would openly vote for anti American values and socialism, but under the disguise of liberalism the socialist will ram this kind of legislation down Americans throats. It all starts with politically correctness, and sounds like a good idea law. Notice those politicians pass laws that DO NOT in anyway effect them.

Been voting third party for 30 years last person voted for from dem or rep was Reagan and regretted doing it for over 20 years cause that brought on the Bush Dynasty, but after wising up started looking for the third party debates and last election the 4 main third party candidates said more in 30 minutes about about the issues I heard people around me concerned with than the Dem and Reps did in a hour debate and didn't dodge and weave like a boxer on the hard ones!

In my mind there is no question government has gotten too big  and no longer services the people, it is controlled by other countries, companies and $.  The news is filled with protests in other countries for less, but we have grown passive, there is no way the gov will ever get the overhaul it needs.

That's because most of us who do vote will always choose to waste their vote on the lesser of the 2 evils instead of making their voice really heard by voting for the best candidate, RON PAUL 2016

I've tried to make that argument for the past two elections. I get told that's wasting the votes. I tell them it's not a waste if everyone who felt it was the lessee of two evils, votes for the third party.

I adamantly agree but here is the deal:  in the day and age of smartphones, gimmicks, instantaneous news (odd that no one seemed to have an i-Phone during the Benghazi assault, don't you think? I call B.S. on this), Ron Paul does not possess the "saleable image" that nearly has to be perpetuated via the mainstream and digital media outlets.  Yes, "saleable image."  It matters, like it or not (I don't like it).  I feel this is why Ron Paul is "unelectable" (but I vote for him anyway).

One thing I think is "lost" in today's modern technology world is this:  self-reliance.

We are so reliant on the "news" for our information, corporate farms and Wally World (aka China-Mart), i-Phones for communication, etc. that it seems no one even desires to perform tasks in a more "manual" and self-reliant mode (we all succumb to this to some level I think).

Why walk a 1/2 mile when I can drive the car?  Why dig with a shovel when I have a backhoe? Why install an OWB when "all" I have to do is work more and more  to afford electric heat or propane? (rhetorical questions).   :bag:

I think we "older guys" in the 35+ years of age understand why but is the younger generation(s) not learning the long-hand math prior to relying on the calculator?   :-\  I wish I knew the answers and had "the solution."

Whoops...

Ron Paul??

I thought you meant Rand Paul.

Ron will never have a chance, has been labeled a loon by the media for way too long. Rand was at least smart enough to run as a republican instead of third party.

You are right, good catch, I meant Rand  in 2016, as far as the Republican Party goes, it worked well for Ron didn't it, all I heard on any talk show was he's a crazy old man, nobody ever explained to me why he is crazy, I saw nothing in anything that he said that was crazy in any way!

He was crazy as he didn't toe the accepted line.

I mean jeez, actually expecting people to be responsible for their own more often than not stupid life choices?

A smaller government?

What a loon.

I have a friend who is a staunch libertarian. 8 years in the marines and now works for a higher end security company, just spent two months in California on a job. I like some of his ideals, for example legalize all drugs and tax the piss out of them with the understanding you fry your brains from a overdose your on your own, no taxpayer supported care in a nursing home, etc. In other words, man up and own your own stupid choices.

...heck mlappin,,,, I'm all for making them taxed and over the counter  :o ....

One catch though....

You no longer will be able to possess a Driver's License and are subject to 20 years in federal prison if caught driving under the influence of the "approved, legal substances."

In effect, you resign yourself to the limitation of having a sober driver carry one's Little Debbie-eating butt around for the rest of one's life.
