Title: Facebook Group
Post by: AirForcePOL on February 11, 2014, 07:59:03 AM
Would anyone be interested in joining a OWB Facebook group?  For those of you who dont't know how it works, once a Facebook group is created you can either request to be a member of the group or be added by someone.  It would be similar to what we have here but in a Facebook format.  You don't have to be friends with people in the group if you don't want to be.  just a thought.  I am a member of several firearm trading/selling groups here in Illinois and it's pretty nice.  But, everyone will know how ugly you really are   :bag:  I have searched Facebook for similar groups and I don't think there is one.  Let me know if there is any interest and we could get something going.  There would need to be a few admins also.

I tell you what, it would be TONS easier to post pictures!  I think there would be pros and cons to the FB page.  I think the organization of topics is much better here.  I'm sure I would join and I think it would attract a completely different audience than the guys on here.  I think this page serves well as a learning and a research tool, whereas the FB page would be more about sharing pictures and more "fluffy" stuff.

I agree.  It would be much easier for videos and pictures.  I don't think you could seperate different sections like you can on here so it would just be a continuos feed.  I feel that it would be a lot quicker way for people who are having problems get answers from everyone.  I myself really just like to bullcrap a lot lol I think it would be great for that!

I'm in, and you can have different topics to talk about in each group. It's not as easy to navigate subjects as this site, but would still work.

I disagree with you 1000% on this one Slim.
The attempted spread of any type immorality, especially the type that has tendencies to prey on our male youth, sickens me.

Neal, it has positively nothing to do with homophobia.
It has everything to do with what's right vs what's wrong.
You know that I don't really give a dam what you and your friends do when you are alone.

What'll it take for you to wake up?
A sexually transmitted disease that will eventually kill you?
The violent rape of someone you care about?

Yet another thread sniped by our resident troll.

This site loses legitimacy with every thread you are involved in.

You do understand of course that my suggestion was not sexual in nature and relating to the flame of fire burning in furnaces, correct?

It is quite clear you have some kind of sexual repression that is clamoring to escape your mind.

I was inspired by a bluegrass group that I like: http://flamekeeperband.com/ (http://flamekeeperband.com/) (Michael Cleveland is a fantasticly gifted musician)  Apparently a band which apparently you must also think is one of homosexuals.

Stop being so petty and resentful.

Perhaps I missed something there Marty, I think I know how you feel about such things and I share a lot of those sentiments, I do not however condemn any body for their backroom escapades as long as it is all consensual, I leave that part for my God to sort out, I also think that I did understand Neal's post and believe it was meant to be controversial in order to grab the human eye, much like the headlines of a newspaper, I see nothing wrong with that.

It was simply a clever turn of phrase about burning wood in a furnace.

Neal,
Your suggestion may not have been sexual in nature, but was purposefully offensive by your design.
You are a liar if you try to convince anyone otherwise.

I suggested an another post that you and my former self have a bit in common.
The trolling and sniping that you do here and on every site that you are a member of is EXACTLY what I would have done 25 years ago.

I'm quite sure that it's not me that has "sexual repression".

I'll happily stop being your definition of "petty and resentful' if you'll agree to stop being a "Sniping Troll".

Deal???

You are a complete moron if you think it was purposely offensive.   How can you even come to such an idiotic conclusion...

If you have any evidence of me lying I would love to hear of it.  I have a strong feeling I'll be waiting awhile though... (http://www.freedomsledder.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/c-n.gif)

Yet again, you clearly don't comprehend the definition of what a troll is.  Therefore you are making flawed assumptions that I am one.  I quite clearly show an interest in legitimate optics pertaining to outdoor wood furnaces.   I'm not a troll simply because I see off topic discussion and voice my opinion on that discussion.  That's not how trolling works.  You need to educate yourself a little more with the vernacular.

It's your story, you tell it.

I'm going to continue to be myself, you can do whatever you desire.

What stuff is that exactly, opinions supported by factual data instead of illogical emotion?  (http://www.freedomsledder.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif)

Many activities we do are harmful to the planet and climate, that doesn't mean we will not or should not engage in any of them.  You make no point.

Neal, instead of continuing to be yourself, why don't you spend a small fraction of the time you spend on the internet with your boys(your children) instead.
Nothing wrong with changing who you are if it nets positive results!

I try and limit my 'puter time to an hour/day. I put no limits on time spent with my family.

Sadly, there was a time when I was much more selfish.

'Course, that was way, way back when I had trollish tendencies. ;)

I'd love to do that, however I spend most of my time on the computer when I am out of town on work, such as the case is now.

One of the changes I want to make with myself and family is building a new house.  One that is supported by a radiant heating system with a OWF.  I came here for legitimate help on the project and received, and continue to receive valuable advice.

I generally embrace change, it is good to mix things up once in a while, and being myself doesn't prevent or discourage certain change.

Too bad you were a troll, myself I never found much point to that kind of thing, which is why I do not do it.

I'm a moderator on a farm site. I've also been a moderator on other sites and from my experience Neil is NOT a troll. While his opinion on certain topics may go against the opinion of a vast majority of the rest of the site that in itself does not make him a troll. I've seen nothing as of yet that if it was done on the other site that I'm a moderator on that would be cause for any disciplinary action.

This is why I love the net, different opinions on about any subject that never actually comes to fisticuffs unlike in a bar.

Might I suggest changing it to a closed group to cut down on riff raff and spam?

I help administer a friends page "Off Road Buy Sell Trade" and its a closed group, really easy to tell the spammers from real potential members when you check their Facebook page and they have only been a member for a month, the profile picture doesn't match the gender and they only have three friends but belong to 900 groups.

Thanks for getting this going Yoder.   I agree with mlappin as far as the closed group goes.  It will just take more time to admin but it would be more of a forum format.

Doesn't take that long to admin, maybe five minutes a day tops. Real easy actually, if the person applying is not friends with anybody else in the group, right click on their name, click open new tab, then check their profile out on Facebook, if they look legit, pictures of them riding four wheelers, pictures of other stuff they have for sell etc then approve em. If they are friends with other members in the group they get a automatic in.
