Title: Forced air build

I am a new member and want to build a forced air unit. I saw this website outsidewoodheater.com looks pretty neat just think I could build for way cheaper. If you can help me with this build that would be nice.

Do you own a welder, can you weld pretty well, have a shop to build it in, and already have some or all of the materials required?

If you can't answer yes to most/all of the above you might have trouble building something much cheaper or as good as what you can buy.

i have a lot of people who weld at my job so that's not a problem have all the materials for the most part.

I am a welder and also have a outdoor forced air one which I bought and one which I built and I get my metal almost at cost and unless you have all the metal working tools and skills to make a air tight 3/16 to 1/2 inch burner box thickness and access to a cheap source of rock wool it will be cheaper to buy one than build it as retail on some of the gasket and high temp insulation is much higher than you think I have 5 grand into the one I built and only 35 hundred in the bought one - yes I did slightly over build the one I made but if your gonna build it find one heating the size house you plan to heat cause I over rated mine due to old drafty house and still slept a lot of nights in my skivies on the blankets because unlike a boiler outdoor hot airs still heat even if you are not calling for it on the thermostat because when the fire box hits preset temp for blower kick in it has to dump hot air somewhere and it is the house I added a thermostatically controlled damper under my house to bleed hot air when it wasn't needed in house but still stayed toasty plan on adding green house to end of house this summer so when heat isn't needed in house and it is producing I can dump it to greenhouse should be able to grow orchids if it works as well as this winter!
