I could tell by the dual tire tracks in the driveway that the propane truck had backed in on Friday. Funny thing is for the 1st time ever there was no bill hanging on the door ???? Could it be because the tank was still at 85%, right where it's been since they topped it off 2 months ago? The next thing they'll want is a lease payment for the tank for not using enough...... oh well, I still win!
-
Oh come on where's your sense of loyalty?
-
At my old house I had an old owb ( it was at the end of its life) and the propane company called me and assumed I was getting propane from a different company in their leased tank, the lady got all huffy puffy with me before she asked why we don't use propane!
-
I installed my OWB and got it going the middle of January years ago. First they sent a guy out to make sure I hand't bypassed the gas meter, then about spring they changed the meter.
Years before that in the late 80's right after we got out of the dairy business they came out and changed the three phase electric meter, a few months after that they came out and but a case lock on the meter panel itself, guess they never noticed that we had about 350 cows less on the farm. Still use its little during the off season to run the air compressor, wire welder and plasma cutter in the shop. Also still use it to load corn and run cooling fans on the grain bins. During heavy use while harvesting and drying corn may use between $1500 and $2000 to dry all the corn. Like I said, less 350 cows and it's barely used the other ten months of the year.

Tell them to make you a "good deal" on the tank or get that "pig" outta your yard. ;-)
-
The "pig" has been in my yard for 25 years..... you would think that they owe me. It'll be a cold day in hell before I give them a penny for a lease.
-
Call your propane company and let them know you will call them when you need propane that way they don't show up.
-
Yes and then they can and will adjust your rate accordingly. As a group we should get together and produce methane digester to fuel our own local power grids and cooking gas as well as community heating.
-
ya gotta poop a lot to make mathane
-
It's a great feeling to not rely on the "pig", when I switched over a decade ago I called the gas company and expected them to want to charge for a lease fee. They have never tried that but I do use gas for dryer, range and summer DHW, about 200 gallons every 3 years or so.
-
Years ago when we still had the dairy we looked into methane digesters, very expensive and rather fickle as well, of course that was back in the mid 80's so I'm sure they've come along ways since.
I'm surprised some big city's aren't using methane digesters. Of course being government first they would raise everybody's sewer rates to pay for the install and maintenance and justify it by saying it's for the environment, then they would still charge for the electric it generated and wouldn't lower the sewer rates any once it was running. Then they'd mismanage the funds and would have to raise sewer rates again or property taxes to cover their financial tom f*ckery.
Maybe it's a good thing they ain't.
-
Just heard on the radio the other day about a company that is installing a digester in Brooklyn NY. They were talking about how much money they will save.

Yup, matter of fact the republicans and tea party have been ringing my phone off the hook looking for handouts.
Tell em sorry but no, I'm a libertarian now and will only give money to the likes of Rand Paul and other libertarians running for office.
One asked my why I switched and I told her I was tired of not being able to tell the difference between a republican and democrat other than the little (D) or (R) after their names.
Told another I can't give em anymore money as that while on vacation in England visiting the wife's family that I was given a second chance at life. After meeting a true irishman named Paddy who drove a lorry for a living at the New Years Party we went to, then matching him drink for drink for a straight 8 hours, that the next afternoon I decided the hangover over I woke up to wasn't going to be fatal after all so I'd better do everything I can to make myself right with universe.
Hell if you can't mess with people calling looking for money whats the point right?
The New Years party is true though. Hands down had to be one of the worst hangovers I've ever had.
-
Mlappin 8 hours drink for drink with a true Irishman sounds like a bad following day indeed!
-
Yup, makes me hurt just thinking about the day after.
Impressed the hell out of the wife's cousin though.
I've talked to him a few times over the phone this winter and always ask him if he's seen that "rotten irish b*stard" lately.

Sounds like one of those mornings where the first thing out of my mouth is I'm never drinking again haha!
-
Ooooooh, been there, done that!
-
Ya but do I ever listen to myself....... Nope! It's funny how when you open that first beer or have that first drink I have never thought about having a mega hangover!
-
My wife and mother in law usually remind me, still does no good!

i don't say that anymore, don't believe it's good for the soul to continually lie to ones self. ;)
-
Haha ya exactly!
