My Central Boiler came from the factory set at 185. I am going to run it all summer and have turned it down to 175 today. Is there any disadvantage to running lower temps? Will it cause significantly more creosote?
Thanks

I own a shaver boiler and run the water temp at 150

I run 165 on off at 175. Any hotter and I use more wood.

When it is cold, it is on at 1654 off at 180. Bump it up a bit one the EXTREME days. Drop it down to 140 or so when it is mild such as fall and spring. Don't run it iin the summer.

20-40 outside temp with 10mph wind or less - on 140 off 150
20-40 outside temp with 11mph + winds - on 150 off 160
0-20 outside temp with 10mph wind or less - on 150 off 160
0-20 outside temp with 11mph + winds - on 170 off 180

i dont know if it is true or not bu t iread on a forum one time on boilers that if your water is under 180 that the corrosion facto increases..that said i run my home made OWB at 145 to 160 anyway

My CB is factory set at 185 and since I'm still a newbie... I think I'll leave it for now... ;D

I talked to a rep at Central Boiler and he told me to always keep it at 165 or above. I have the large cast iron radiators so I can heat my house for most of the winter at 165-170. When it gets really cold I'll bump it up to 185 but this year it's only been there for a couple of days. I do know that the hotter the inside of your furnace the better draft you'll get, so you'll get a more efficient burn at the higher temps.
