Finally got a chance to get up in the back forty today, was riding on the property line, gawking at my firewood still growing. Decided to take a walk on next property over from me and all his oak is dying on about three acres, tops already gone. No idea what the cause may be. These are nice oaks too most are 16"DBH. Hope whatever is killing his stays there and doesnt cross the line.

in 2005 and 2006 we had oak blight come through and took a bunch of ours, curiously it mostly affected the larger ones and left the smaller (say 14" diameter) trees alone. I had to have some selective logging done, made a few bucks and had easy firewood galore for a few years but I still would have rather kept them.

in my mom and dads woods they had a elm blight do the same thing. Its paying off now.
