Title: Lewis Winch
Post by: uncle Dave on May 09, 2014, 12:03:51 PM
My wood lot is on a rather steep hillside, I' looking to buy a Lewis Winch to pull the logs and tops down where we can get to them. Does anyone have any experience with one of them

I watched a few videos on Youtube, looks like a really clever gadget.

I agree they are clever. But what scares me is, the operator has to stand right by the winch. Which is the worst place to be, because if and when that cable fails. He is taking it right in the kisser. All bad!!!

there is a 'tube  video  of a guy  ,,,  he  took his  old ford pickemup  ,jacked up one back corner  then  put on an old rim  and wrapped some  cable around it  , then he winched some logs up a hill
