Title: Humor in siganatures
Post by: Homerglide on May 20, 2014, 07:02:27 PM
I see that Sloppy_Snood and I both have 1996 3/4 ton trucks. Looks like he has the extra long bed model, mine is only 8 footer.

There you go again, FORD did not have to be bailed out with stolen money did it, I personally have owned my last Government motors vehicle and I have owned them all my life, I'll buy Ford until the EPA relaxes it's stranglehold on diesels enough that we here in These United States are allowed to buy the new 1 ton dually Toyota that is available almost anywhere but North America

Didnt ford credit take bank bailout money? Not trying to start anything just saying they may not be as innocent as some think.

If the Ecoboost line is as reliable and well put together as the Triton gasoline engines and Navistar diesel powerplants they might want to start applying for funding now.  I have had enough of both engine lines apart to see a complete crap show on the horizon.

Not that I am aware of, I have never seen anything saying they did have you? If Ford credit did they would still be a separate entity in my mind from Ford and Toyota certainly did not, perhaps thats why they are not one of the chosen ones by our Federal overlords! Government money handed out to corporations IS stolen money, we should ALL live within our means!

Ford has taken government loans too, don't be so brand bias!

I doubt that is what Ford wanted it to represent but I will openly admit that the interior plastic piece that runs across the dash with the "XL" on it is actually coming unglued at one end and slaps on the dash when you drive it.  LOLOLOL

Anyway, I thought it to be humorous that the XL appeared just prior to long bed making for one looooooonnnngg bed truck. I like my Ford products good enough. I've been fortunate enough to own one from just about every automaker and think they all do an acceptable job these days. Us old duffers remember the days without padded dashboards, seatbelts, galvanized sheetmetal, radial tires and such. These new ones sure have morphed from the past. Anyone ever had one fall over while using the stock ratcheting jack they all came with? Or off in the distance ya hear a thump, thump, thump coming your way and from experience know what's next.......Bang...Funny how folks would just keep going with their tube beating against the fender. And in the rust belt those big fenders would flap in the wind with bailing wire or a coat hanger keeping it tied to the rig..........

Yeah they all make a good enough product. Heated mirrors and seats, tv screens in the seats, talking maps and on and on..........

One of my older brothers owned a 73, 3/4 ton, 4x4 International pickup truck.  That thing was a tank and rode like it too with the strap springs and overload springs.  You couldn't kill that thing.  I remember when the fenders rotted away due to all of the winter salt and the way to fix it was to weld angle iron to it and fix it to anything in the vicinity that you could weld to.  Plus, if you had to work on the carb you simply crawled in to the engine compartment and made yourself comfortable.  There was plenty of room for you.  Try that with today's trucks...  Roger

Um, 9/11 tanked the economy. Think what would have happened if the current administration was in power when that happened. He probably would have apologized to the terrorists families for starters.

If you don't think 9/11 played a huge part in the slowdown then you need to talk to some of the union guys around here that never worked steady again if they were laid off when it happened. A lot of huge projects are years in the making, when that happened a lot of those projects were put on hold indefinitely.

Ford didn't directly borrow money, but instead leveraged themselves in a somewhat risky way that would have bankrupted a lot of other companies if it didn't work. I got this from a friend who works for a major supplier to ford.

GM, government motors, took money that they will never pay back but they are building plants in China right now.

You are right about 9/11 but that was definatly not the only reason it tanked it definitely got the ball rolling.

GM paid back the money early the the government motors saying is because the government had 61% of stock shares, all which have been sold in December, I think it should also be noted that the bailout was to help preserve many thousands of jobs in an already troubled economy.

Guys, do me a favor;  I get enough political BS at work.  I come on here to get away from it.  Don't bring it here.  If you want to talk politics go somewhere else.  Thanks, Roger

Alot of folks around me use the 1 to 2 horse "buggy" models.  Cold in the winter and takes awhile to get you where your going, but gets the job done : ).  And they are the new hybrid models that run on hay ; ).

Is there a single airline in the country that hasn't declared bankruptcy at sometime in the past?

Yup, GM paid up, using other bailout money they hadn't used yet. The fed still owns 61% of em, yet they are building in china....I hadn't realized that everybody in this country that wanted a job had found one.

9/11 started the financial crisis, the housing bubble sealed the coffin.

Sorry Roger, posted then read yours.

Not to be flippant, but we might all want to enjoy our first amendment rights while we still have em.

Point taken.  If I feel a topic is getting to political for me, I'll move on to something else.  Thanks  Roger

No worries Roger.... we all get our "fill" of political issues at varying points in time.... not a big deal at all.

We all still think you are a pretty awesome guy.

Roger did I ever tell you the story of my father in law and I arguing politics at the dinner table?  Short story, it ended in a BIG hug.
