Title: Moderators
Post by: martyinmi on July 02, 2014, 03:37:25 PM
Got to say I'm impressed with the Global Moderator choices our site owner has made.

I was ready to give up on this site, but I guess ya'll are stuck with me for a while!

Not sure if that includes me but....   :-\  ??? ;)  LOL!

.... I can tell you this much: I know how to use SPAM filters and blocked automated SPAM-Bots (as they are called).

It all seems to be working well and I can see our OWFI brother Sprinter is also attacking the SPAM problem. ;-)

Great to see you back over here Marty.... please stop in more often.  Cheers!  - Sloppy

Awesome choices, I'm sure you guys will be great at it and if there is anything I can help with just let me know, is there a way that we as members can get a hotline to you and Sprinter to alert of any suspicious characters, Sloppy I think I have your cell # would that be OK if I use it as a hot button?

Deleting, threads,members,IP's

I just don't care for the new member emails, cuz there's a lot. Comes in bursts

I see they haven't made any changes to member registration since we are still getting 2-6 spams a day. Most don't post tho

Exactly Sprinter.  We cannot delete those spammer members but I just wait until there accounts become active and then ban them.   Somewhat tedoius but I have been able to stop a lot of spam just through banning all IPs on Chinese, Ukrainian, and Netherland servers.  A good 60% reduction.  8)
