I don't think there is much hemlock in my area.  I'm leaning towards Pecan.  Agree?  Disagree?

Definitely not Hemlock, at least not the version I see here in the Northeast, I would almost bet Pecan but we don't have them here so I would not know for sure

I was thinking green or white ash until I saw the slight jagged edge on the leaf.

Thanks Sloptster.  Also, the White Ash I've cut doesn't have a darker core.  It's the same glowing white throughout the wood.

This web site says Pecan.

On Northern Vancouver Island, Hemlock is one of our main sources for firewood.  The bark has a more open grain than the bark in your picture.

hemlock is softwood.not an ash either?????maybe pecanbut nothing i've seen up north

There were 24 made near Trail, BC.  That's just North of Spokane Wash., but they were built over 30 years ago.
It was expensive around $ 4,000 in 1984 dollars but time has proven that it was a good buy!
