So I am going to change out the two door gaskets with the new silicon rope gasket. Any advise ?
-
It's easy Randy, pull the old one out with a good screwdriver, scrape the door channel a bit, squirt the channel with about 1/4 inch bead of high temp silicone, start on the hinge side in the middle or close to it, push the rope into the channel, don't stretch it but instead fatten it up, when you meet the other end, cut the rope about 1/2 inch longer than you think it should be, squirt the 2 ends wit the silicone and push the loose end in, go back around the door pushing the rope in and wiping excess silicone off, DONE!

Thanks for the hints slim.. See you next Saturday don't forget the boiler treatment ....

Bring your thirst Randy, the guy I just put the unit in for in Mass. sent me home with a little whistle wetter, Hard Cider.

That went easier than expected. I can see a small hinge adjustment is in order however. The new gasket seems so much more effective than the original one. I also learned something new about my boiler, the stainless steel heat deflector thingy on the bottom ash door is removable? I guess I haven't been very observant.

Hi Jim, Randy. Another issue with my Opt 250 is the firebox door gasket. Smoke is leaking more and more.
Where do you get that silicone gasket from or original gasket? I have to replace it really soon.
Help truly appreciated

Winalov, just call our office in Canada, it's pricey but works well, you say another problem with your 250, tell us about it, perhaps we can help!
