Title: tricks to getting nipples removed
Post by: hrc200x on September 13, 2014, 09:53:50 PM
Are there any tricks out there to getting nipples removed? Seems every time I try, it either crushes them or damages the threads on the close ones.

Since we're on the subject, when calling the local plumbing store and a lady answers don't ask her, "what size your close nipples".

I've had luck in the past using EZ outs. I have a big enough one it will take 1" pipe out.

One of these days I'm going to pick a set of these up: http://www.irwin.com/tools/impact-accessories/impact-screw-grip (http://www.irwin.com/tools/impact-accessories/impact-screw-grip)™-double-ended-screw-extractors

Sometimes a little heat around the fitting not the nipple helps, Recto seal has been used by lots of guys in the trade for years, that stuff hardens up like crazy glue!
