Hey guys this is my first year with my Ridgewood 6000 my question is how do you keep your diverter set? Closed completely cracked a little? I'm not clear on how to set it. Thanks guys
-
Are you talking about the steel plate under the stack?
-
Yes sorry I should have been more clear

As far as I know that's there for when you brush your stack out. Open it so the crap you brush off falls down thru . I keep it closed.

Ok thanks that's what I was thinking but it never hurts to ask. Thanks I just filled my stove now it's bringing water up to temp. It came out of the well at like 54 it's now 95 degrees. How long before it brings it up to 180? I'm standing here watching I think I should make a drink!

It takes awhile to get there. More then one drink

Yeah I keep mine closed also. First year for my ridgewood 6000, it's been fired up for a week now. The aquastat is bad and fluctuating up and down causing door to open and close. I'm kinda disappointed a little but the guys at ridgewood are great and they are mailing a new aquastat to me in the next day or so. It's supposed to be an easy fix.

Well when I left the house it was like 150 degrees, that was about an hour ago. I won't be back for about 3 hours I'm thinking it will be heating by the time I get back. I have my furnace fan just running full time. I have my taco bumblebee pump set to delta tee it was circulating 6.3 gpm we will see what happens when I get home

Yes, the diverter is just a way to clean out chimney area. Should be closed during the heating season.

.
Couple weeks ago fire up the eClassic 2400, took 6 hours to go from 50f to 180f, while trying to heating 2 structures. Might as well stood with the door open throwing wood in :o

The chimney is also a way to lift the stove. Removing the diverter allows access. Pull the diverter, stick a chain down through the chimney and wrap it around a 4x4 and lift the stove with a tractor bucket or fork truck.
