So, the Heatmaster MF3000 does not come with the light installed on the unit and I was wondering if anyone wanted to share some pictures of how they light up their furnace area. I have a couple trees by my furnace, so I could attach a light(s) to the tree, I just don't know how I would install on outdoor light switch.

The light on my 5000e is actually brighter than I thought it would be with a 60 watt bulb in it. It lights up the area around my stove pretty well but at night I can't see into the stove because the light is right in my face. I have thought about putting a 4x4 in the ground next to my stove and just putting a light on it with a switch that points to my wood pile.

BenGrove - I had the same problem with my CB unit; not being able to see in the fire box especially if it's just smoldering. I took the cheap and simple approach; I purchased a LED light that clips to the visor of my baseball cap. It has 3 very strong lights that will cut through the smoke so you can see what you're doing. It takes AAA batteries but they last about 2 months before having to change them for fresh ones. I use for it other things too; working on the tractor, car, etc... where a little extra light is needed. Just a thought. Roger

I have a light on my CB, but I also bought a 2000 lumen head lamp off of ebay for $17. I leave it hanging by the door and throw it on when going out at night. It allows me to see in the firebox and also lets me see if there are any deer under my apple trees on the way to the stove. :)

Sold! Thanks Roger and Gcterpfan - head lamp here I come!
-
Same here with a head lamp........it lights up every where I look. 8)

A BIG HELL YEAH ON THE HEAD LAMP same one you use to go to the out house
-
I also use the head lamp. Keeps it simple.

My main power pole for our single phase service is 25 feet from the wood boiler, I have a 70 watt sodium vapor night light on that pole and another 70 watt sodium vapor on the shop which is a hundred foot south of the wood boiler.

That is one issue that Im surprised that not one boiler manufacture install a light where you can see in the boiler.. Some kind of flex light...Not only that, Why isn't there no light in the back of the boiler where all the plumbing is??

I could see not having one on back, would take some tricky advertising to make having a service light so you can fix something in the dark and cold a good thing.
-
Perhaps a better way to do it would be to give away a free monogrammed headlamp with every sale?
-
I built my owb with a light inside the back . I thought better to have it and not need it ,than need it and not have it. Plus I probably only cost me another $10. I'll take a pic and post it tonight.

I have my boiler under car port along with my wood supply, three over head lights light it up like its daytime. I also have the hats you can buy a lowes with the LED lights built in. Very bright and usefull. Got them mainly for camping to go to the wood pile in the dark. As said before a million uses for them. The best part about these hats is you can wear them all the time and nobody even knows the lights are even there. Always there when you need them. Dont have to clip on a silly looking light.

I don't a agree with that at all..what the difference of having a light under you hood if your vehicle.. Stuff happens just saying

Where would you mount it and it not get smoked up Matty, I personally would like to see one in the rear cabinet of our 250 but the factory thinks that the outlet allows for the home owner to place a light wherever they like.
-
If you want lots of light just put a 4x4 in the ground as a pedestal and put a dual bulb light on it one shining towards the firebox and one towards the wood pile.

slim I'm talking about back of the furnace where the plumbing is

Here's a pic of the back of my homemade boiler

Nice touch but when you build them for production, you probably just added $500 dollars to the cost, to the consumer for that added convenience and it's only good in the cabinet, a nice monogrammed headlamp would promote our product as well as keep you from falling on your butt in the dark/ allow you to see in the firebox when the fire is out and crawl under your pickup truck to change the oil, all strapped to your head and keeping the long hair out of your eyes, see what I'm thinking!

I highly doubt its $500 more considering it would be mass produced.. yeah the head lamp works for sure..But the light bulb clearly wins

OK maybe $500 is a stretch but it does add cost, think of it this way, there is already a duplex plug in the back of the boiler, if we put a light in there, not only does it take material and labor but also would need to have it UL and CSA approved for wet areas, that is all an extra expense that the customer eventually pays for! if the customer puts a light in there and plugs it in, everybody is happy! A monogrammed headlamp is a small enough investment that it could be a give away product in exchange for a deposit at shows, this would give us almost free advertisement as well, I'm going to have a chat with the powers to be!

Didn't know a outlet it already installed..That is pretty slick as well.....Do all the new owbs have that offer?
-
MattyNH - There's a duplex outlet in the rear of my Central Boiler E-Classic 1400; my pump is plugged into it. When I thoroughly clean it for the summer I plug an extension cord into it with a 2 outlet end on it so I can plug my small air compressor and drop light into it. The drop light is for when I'm scraping the firebox. I feed it through the chimney clean out door and I let it hang in the firebox so I can see what I'm doing. It's very handy. I don't know about the other models. Roger

Slim does the Bl have a duplex plug if so I'm not seeing it on mine and I could use help as to where its at I could be blind or just looked when it was half dark out.
