Title: What electrical wire to run from OWB to house
Post by: pottervilla on October 20, 2014, 02:50:48 PM
Hello,  We recently purchased a used Woodmaster 4400 and are wondering what type of wire we need to run from the boiler to the house.  Woodmaster says 14-2, but we need to know how the thermostat will be controlled.  Is 2nd electrical line needed for the thermostat?

Is it possible to control the OWB circulating pump from the house thermostat?

Thank you for your insights!

Susan

14-2 will be enough to power your pump and forced air fan on the boiler. When you say 'how the thermostat will be controlled' are you referring to the aquastat on the furnace or the thermostat in the house? Most of us run our pumps 24/7 and don't run them only when there is a call for heat. This is for a few reasons which include heating domestic hot water and always having hot water at your water to air hx when the house calls for heat.

Thank you gentlemen for your quick replies.  We now understand that the circulating pump runs continuously!  Our son is back filling the trench so we can return Grandpa's backhoe tomorrow.  :-)
