My buddy brought these home from a demo. Can I make these useful in my system?

Yes but place them where they won't get knocked into and break, if they do you may have the EPA on your but as they are filled with mercury and they may want you to lift your house to excavate!

...but the scale only goes up to 180f, so probably best to use after a mix devise, FPHX or on a return line.
