I'm trying to wire into a thermostat or "unwire" to make the fan run without the heat strips coming on. On my system it was really simple, however on these heat pump system I want to run my furnace on emergency heat without the strips coming on for the owb. I traced the white wire out of the thermostat and unhooked it, it has a jumper wire that goes over to another post. I unplugged both and the fans runs with no heat strips coming on but the fan turns really slow, should I unhook the bigger white wires thar hook up closer to the heat strips?

Sounds like you are dealing with a variable speed blower. Most likely the system needs to have the low voltage hooked up to bring up the speed of the fan. The larger wires that you are speaking of are most likely line voltage so if you do disconnect them be sure and wire nut them off. I bet the best way to do this is disconnect the low voltage wire from the relay that kicks on the strip heat. Without seeing the wiring diagram it is a little hard to know exactly what to tell you might work. Good luck.

Hey Scott,
I have the same system , all you need to do is turn off the power to the electric heat strips.
The variable speed blower board need to "see" 24 volts from the heater relay, so it "thinks"
that the electric heat is on.
Also, if you look at the wiring diagram, there should be another sticker that tells you how to adjust
the speed of the motor with "dip switches", that way, you can slow it down some because heat
needs a slower fan speed than cooling or electric strips.
