Title: Insulating basement walls and floors

Getting around to my next project and would like a little insight. Half of my house is block foundation that is 3/4 exposed above ground. I know block is very porus and doesnt really "keep" the cold out. What are some good options to sealing this up. Some sort of paint type product or the relflective air barrier. I don't really want to use blue board due to the fact there are many things on the walls that would make this a pain to hang. Also, what would be good for insulating my floors? I really really want to stay away from fiberglass bats. Someone told me to use that double reflective barrier for the floor but I have no experiance with this product and Im unsure if its worth the $$$$$....

Actually if that's what I think it is, the foil-bubble-foil stuff is more for radiant heat applications. Like the radiant heat tubes you'd find in a factory or warehouse.

Im not to familiar with it but allot of people use it in attic applications. I was thinking since my floor is so cold all the time this would work well keeping the cold out, right? Or maybe im over thinking this one  :bag:

That's what I use under the Ultra-Fin radiant loops, have you looked at it Dave?

Slim no I havent. I was just browing on Lowes website and came across it. Then continued to research it more there. Seems like good stuff but pretty salty. I wish I had radiant floor but right now Im just trying to keep the cold out of the living space. If sell this house to the gas company and buy something else I will have radiant floor heating with my new stove purchase and install. A friend of mine has it and I LOVE it! The warmth is evenly distributed threw out the house and never a cold floor. Whats there not to like, right!?
