Title: blower motor failure
Post by: karlk on November 28, 2014, 03:20:39 AM
Woke up thanksgiving morning to the oil boiler running, not good because my oil tanks are almost empty.Checked the wood boiler and the fans not running. About 2 years ago I bought a spare motor just in case this happens. It took about an hour to replace .
My optimizer 250 is about 5 years old. I suggest keeping spare parts for times like this. Im ordering another blower motor this week.

Have one on the shelf, mine quit about a week after I bought the boiler. Easy fix.

I got one this fall to keep as a spare.  Last spring it was making some funny noises but so far so good this winter.

I too was thinking of keeping a spare fan on hand.  What do they cost from the factory and are their less expensive (of same quality) units out there on the web?

Was considering buying spare fan and aquastat to keep in a box. Nothing worse than scrambling for a part. Murphy's law will ensure it fails at the worst time possible. :) I just like being prepared for those times.

If items can be purchased here in the US, would lean towards that, as it makes the purchase and shipping easier. This by no means implies anything negative to dealing with the Canadian office. Each time I have called them, they have been customer focused.
