Outdoor Wood Furnace Info

Hi everyone,
I'm looking into the possibility of installing a small conventional boiler to keep my greenhouse (soil level) to about 6C, and my chicken coops to above freezing. The total combined area is roughly 1,660 sq ft. What brand and model would you recommend? Coldest it gets here is -20c which usually doesn't last for more than a week.

Are you going to heat just the soil as in Radiant or the whole house as in Modine? If it is going to be Radiant, Good for you! If it will be Radiant then be prepared to burn some wood!

It's going to be radiant. As I only need to keep the roots of the plants warm.

Well of course I would like for you to at least have a look at our B-L series @ Portage and Main, it does have a lot of nice features with not a lot of complaints! Do you have or will you be installing a backup system as a just in case?

Yes I'll have electric heater as backup. Which I'm using currently, and the monthly hydro bill amounts to $400 for the heating alone!!

OK, this is the way I try to promote any wood boiler, your consumption is $400 per month times 5-6 months, or are you just using it for startup 2-3 months in the spring? multiply those numbers for your total heating cost per year, will the boiler pay for itself ( not including install ) in 5 years?
