Title: Unit heater
Post by: wissel12 on December 04, 2014, 07:40:50 AM
I installed a unit heater in my garage. My house has three zones of hot water heat.  I was not using my basement zone. So I hook into that zone for the unit heater in my garage.

My problem is that the T stat in the garage tells the pump to circulate and to open the zone.  So that leaves the motor on the unit heater. I bought a snap disc, thinking that would do the trick strap to the cooper line.  It will not close it unless I take a torch to the snap disc.

Is there any simple relays I can use to operator the fan?

A Honeywell strap on Aqua Stat is the simplest way I know of to control the fan motor!

So when the copper line heats ups, it will tell the fan to run.

That would work, just looking for something cheaper.

How about this: Grundfos 595656 1/2-Inch Clip-On Aquastat Control. Just found it on amazon.

Just run the power to the unit heater off the same source as the pump. Then they will come on together.

I can not do that, because when a different zone would energize the fan would run.

The lowest I could find was 110 turn on temp.  Where did you mount yours?

Well slim, I ended up putting a aquastat on the unit heater. Set it @ 120. Working good.  Thanks
