Title: Going to hurt
Post by: coolidge on December 07, 2014, 10:56:42 AM
By adding my 1100 sqft shop to my boiler, I am going through 1.5 to 2 cord a month. Everything is 70 though, well 68 in the shop. NOthing but wood.

You may want to try drooping the temp in the shop to around 60.  I started with my shop at 64 and it seemed to run quite a bit.  I went to 56 (where I ran with oil) and it seemed to run way less.  64 seemed quite warm also when I was working and with radiant you could almost feel your feet sweat where as 56 was less noticeable.

I'd be happy with that since we really only get three real cold months here, and maybe 1 on either side of those 3 that free heat is nice.

If I went thru 2 cords a month I would buy propane.

That's a ton of wood.

Are we talking full cord or face cord?

I'm at about 2 cords a month as well.  Maybe just a little bit less than that.
