Took a trip in the woods today with the tractor, nothing but mud. As much as 3" of rain forecast for Christmas.
Might not get in the woods again this year.
-
I hate that. I never had a problem with that last year but the weather has been pretty mild here this year. We'll see I guess...
-
Same thing here, have about 20 dead/dying ash trees dropped atm, I can drag em out with the tracked skid steer anytime I want, would prefer it froze though, hate cutting trees with mud on the bark. Have been taking my Polaris Ranger out and cutting the tops up though. Would really prefer the ground froze with a little snow on top.

Same thing here. Got 15 cord dragged to the edge of the field last year(fortunenatly not in the woods still) Going to start cutting it up this Friday but I don't think that I'll be able to get the truck out there so I can load it right off the splitter. In a perfect world it would be all cut and split in 7-10 days before work gets crazy but I don't think Mother Nature is going to let it happen.

Really no frost in the ground here where i live in NH.....Any snow thats in my yard def will be gone by this intense rain and wind storm at will hit on Christmas Eve....So i know what you all are saying lol..
-
I hear ya. Cut last weekend and it was a mess. The woods were actually in better shape than the field. This weekend the field had froze, but the woods were mush. Fortunately for me, the inlaws tractor is only 1 mile away if I do get stuck.
-
Took the atvs for a ride on the property yesterday, some places axle deep in mud some places impassable with snow. Might have to put my order in for wood soon if I cant cut.
-
Muddy here in SW Iowa. I have some dead and/or dying Elm and Ash trees along a gravel drive going into an abandoned farmstead. Going to be cutting some of those this holiday season. A day or two of cutting wood should help get rid of the inlaws. ;D

Now why would you ever want to do that?
Did the xmas thing at my inlaws, two hour drive had my back absolutely screaming by time we got there. Monster in law started in not 15 minutes after we got there, a Norco helped zone her out a little, the Grey Goose I added to my V8 Fruit Medley finished the job. I was much a happy camper as possible given the situation.
How I've been cutting wood most of this fall, wife helped me today so we filled the Ranger 4 times today, gonna get some more tomorrow while it's still a little froze on top.

Been doing a little the last few day, called my firewood guy. >:D He told me the mills are soooo hurting for wood, expect the firewood prices to rise next year. It is down to 12 above this morning and colder as the week goes, that will help.

Were having the same issue ground is saturated by the time it's gets alittle better BAMM another shot of crappy weather luckily we got a lot of wood split so now it's finding new stuff that's been holding us up!

Clearing up a new woods for maple sap tubing. Temps finally dropped here were at 9 this morning. Got 2 cords of dry maple (no bark) and 3 cords of green yesterday.

Yes, ground froze here too, high of 15 today. While most everyone I know was setting inside complaining about the temp, I cut and hauled 2.5 cords of hedge hauled home today. 8) Might celebrate the new year in a couple days with a couple more cords! Happy New Year. :o

I went out to cut and haul some elm last sunday and ended up getting stuck with the atv and trailer up against a tree. It had been below freezing and some snow on the ground, but still mud when the tires spin a little. Should be better tomorrow after this last cold spell.
