Title: Does anyone know where to get this seal?
Post by: Fizzgiz on January 06, 2015, 08:37:03 AM
Hi everyone! I'm new here and to OWB's as well. My family and I are searching for a new door seal for this unknown unit. The seal is flat and has a round border filled with metal.

How about a picture with a tape measure laying beside it?

I'm helping the original poster with how to post a picture.  A picture will be added to the original post shortly. ;)

Here is the pic I took, hopefully it works.  ;D
The seal is about 2 inches wide and there is metal inside the round border.

Just place "tags" immediately before and immediately after the link you just posted and the picture itself will appear instead of a link.

Modify the text in your post to this:

And after you save your edits, your post will display the picture like this:

Never seen one that looks like that. Who makes this stove? Post a pic of the stove itself?

ROFL, this is what everyone says. The fact that I can't find it is making me look bad. I never have this much trouble locating something. I will take good pics of the stove tomorrow in the daylight, but here are three pics that I already have on my phone. The first one is of the stove from the side and it is hard to see on the right side of the garage as it blends in with the red garage door. Let's see if I can do this right now...

Ok, so I can post the pics properly, yay! Now as I said I will post better pics tomorrow, but maybe it will look familiar enough to someone. :)

Ive got no clue as far as who made that thing. If I were you I would just get a wide 'flat gasket' and use that. It should be fine. Just search wood stove flat gasket on ebay or google. Lots of choices.

Sorry, just have a few questions.

Is that Roxul on the inside of the door? It looks like someone may have built an enclosure around an
indoor unit?

What type of siding is being used on your unit? Is the angle iron sealed around the opening where the
siding meets? If not, it would be a good idea to caulk all areas not sealed.

My unit looks kind of like your unit but it's not the same brand.

I found it! Sorry it took me so long to get back here. I now know that it's called a tadpole gasket and can be used when your sealing surface is uneven. Now that I know what it's called, I found it at many places and ordered one. Thank you for all your help. I've learned a lot from reading here and now I know how to post my pics from Photo bucket, lol. It was a cold one last night and my crew was nice and toasty.

We all learn something new everyday! Now we can help tell the next guy that comes along and asks what that is.

That's why I made it a point to come back and share. You'll see more of me. I like it here! I took more pics of our stove named The Beast. I'll start another thread to see if anyone recognizes it. :)

Looks like someone was trying to copy our E4 model, the gasket is called a tabpole style.

Where is it located?
