Title: hard time getting up to temp today, odd
Post by: caper on February 01, 2015, 01:45:45 PM
Hope this isn't a sign, hard time gettn the boiler up to temp today, everything seems ok, but its been hours and the blower is still on, been out to check on it several times, adding more wood each time.

So is it actually burning through the wood your adding yet not able to reach set point? Does it seem to burn better with the door open? Does the smoke coming from the chimney with the fan running look the same as before this issue started? If you put your hand over the fan can you feel it pulling in air?
Just a few ideas, hopefully a simple fix.

Sounds like you have simply have a poor coal bed.  Forget the big chunks, load it plump full with the smallest driest stuff you have and you will be fine.

lol, thanks guys, it was -30 last night with the windchill, woke up to a warm house, and boiler was 182, wood was gone but I had a nice bed of red hot coals, weird day yesterday, anyway, fixed a lot of complicated things over the last three years, however I just think sluggo was right, coal bed was alittle messed up, shoveled some out, fingers crossed, sometimes its just not that complicated, lolo
