Title: Learned something new - E-Classic 1400

On my E-Classic 1400, when conducting my monthly cleaning, I have begun to scrape the area around the by-pass door.  Earlier in this heating season I noticed it wasn't gassing that well, lots of smoke even with reaction chamber temps well over 1000 degrees.  I thought perhaps the gasket around the by-pass door needed changing but I decided to run my hand over the lip and I couldn't believe how much junk had built-up preventing a light seal.  So, now it's part of the monthly cleaning process; I simply run my hand over the lip and break off any build-up.  What a difference that made in the combustion of the gasses and smoke.  It is quicker to gasify thus cutting down on the amount of smoke I see from the stack, which is none when the temps reach over 750 degrees.  I hope this bit of info is helpful to someone.  Roger
