Title: F'ng Snow is Killing Me for Cutting
Post by: woodmaster40 on February 15, 2015, 04:07:32 PM
Live here in Connecticut on the shore in New Haven County. It's been snowing one storm after another for a number of weeks. I have between 3-4 feet on the ground. Needless to say, can't get my truck into the woods and cutting has been ground pretty much to a halt. I've had to buy some bundles of slab wood to supplement. Way low on wood and now I'm burning almost 100% green wood with the exception of standing dead stuff that is in close proximity to the road and I can pull out to the truck. What a mess. Snow, please go away! At this rate, it will be April before we see any melt.

Same here in the UP of Michigan.  I spend more time moving snow and ice off the pile of 8' logs than I do cutting them.  Next year I'll be ready unlike this year.

Ugh, tracked skid steer with wide tracks, takes for ever to plow out from around the trees, but drop em then drag em out to a plowed open area for cutting. Last year I just cut some off high then dragged them out in the open and came back for the rest of the stump later. But yah, deep snow sucks for cutting wood, guaranteed impossible to stay dry as well.

Call me stupid, but I tried getting in the woods today. Cut 6 standing dead ash and could only haul out two, waist of time.

Here's a picture of the ground hog that predicted the early spring

Groundhogs have more rights than we humans do, they already legalized marijuana. 8)
