Title: Taco 007 Pump becomes air locked
Post by: rsv101 on March 03, 2015, 01:59:13 PM
Hello everyone. I have had continuous problems with a Taco 007-F5 pump getting air locked. It has probably happened at least 5 times this winter. It is happening on my closed loop insider boiler. My house has 4 zones. (1) A main level baseboard hot water heat, (2) domestic hot water heat, (3) garage in floor, and (4) basement in floor. The zone I always have the problem with is the domestic hot water zone. When my DHW hot water storage tank is in need of hot water the pump kicks on and becomes priority over all other zones. It seems I never have a problem with my other pumps air locking just the DHW pump. Any thoughts on what could cause this?

A picture or diagram would nice...

Generally pumps become air-locked because the system was not properly filled/purged; not saying you did that.  But sometimes radiant systems can be very hard to get all the air out of, EVEN IF YOU ARE A WILY OLD VETERAN.  Having an auto or manual air bleeds helps; that is why most larger systems have a micro bubbler (air eliminator) in the system to scrub out the tiny bubbles.

I had to put an auto vent on the top of my dad's sidearm, cause I got a little carried away and built it too tall.    :-[

I've had good luck eliminating air with a spirovent.
