Hey guys, I totally lost my coal bed yesterday band still had two pieces of wood in the fire box. I had to put some kindling wood
in to get the fire back. Has anyone else had this happen ?

How deep us the ash? It has happened to me when my ash was really deep. It is my first year and I have been learning a lot. Now that I keep my ash lower and rake it more I haven't had the issue.

Almost no ash at all, I try to keep the ash level low all the time.

I have had that happen when there wasn't much load on it and it was loaded it with all large (8-10") diameter peices. Now I make sure I always mix in smaller peices.

This is my first year so I'm learning too. With the weather warming to 30's for lows and 60's for highs, I'm using 2 large splits (10"x24") and using a lot of my small oak pieces left over from my woodstove days. Luckily I have about 5 cords of it seasoned 2 to 4 years. This is lasting me about 18 hours.
