Title: First year OWB guy, summer shut down
Post by: BrentG on May 03, 2015, 04:33:27 PM
Do I have to drain the water out? I'm going to shovel the ashes out and scrape the walls to get the cresote off, but anything else to do?

Do not drain it but in fact top it off and do your water sample!

After your done scraping off the inside, coat the lower areas with used motor oil so it will preserve the exposed metals and prevent rusting,or keep it to a minimum. Over the summer the cool water will sweat inside the firebox. keep your water topped off and cover the stack to keep rain out. :)
