Title: Last winter with the forest eater
Post by: 1ELVIS on September 06, 2015, 09:11:36 AM
Well I've been at it cutting boat loads of wood. I'm cutting extra this year as to prepare more seasoned wood for next year. I got to see my friends e classic in action last winter and couldn't believe how much less wood he used to heat more space. Now I'm at square one again doing some research for a possibility of purchasing a gasification boiler. My buddies in my ear for a central but I'm not a fan of the design so I'm thinking Heatmaster G or  P&M. I'm just excited to do the research its like being a kid looking at new toys. Unfortunately trying to find dealers near me for those brands is like trying to find an honest politician lol.

A simple phone call to either office and your zip code will net you the closest dealer.

So far Iv done some simple Google searches. Being this will be next year's purchase I'm not rushed and haven't done anything beyond Google and this forum. All I know is I want a top notch unit this go around. I think that's why the SS Heatmaster is on my short list.. I'm sure I'll be asking questions about the newest designed G series I don't see a lot of post on that model. The P&M on the other hand there is plenty to read.

I've been in the same position here for over a year now. After 13 years with my Central, I'm looking to scale back on the wood cutting. Got close to 2 years worth of wood cut, split, and stacked so I'm ready for a gasifier.

Just haven't been able to convince myself to write out that $10,000 check yet.

If I had my druthers while the P&M unit is a good reliable unit, I’d go with Heatmaster for the simple ease of cleaning.

The 409 is also a very good material far as heat transfer and corrosion resistance.

We have a straight truck that I used 409 stainless flex pipe on for the exhaust connection from the manifold down pipes to the rest of the systom, has been under there more than ten years and doing well, this truck used to see a lot of salt in the winter as well delivering hay, have had to replace other pieces of the system that’s aluminized already but the flex pipe is just fine.
