Is everyone ready for this winter season. I live in southern ontario Canada and it has been warmer then normal and haven't had to light my boiler yet. Based on the weather forecast looks like it may be two or three more weeks before I do. I have about 32 face cords of wood stacked for the winter - hoping it will be enough to last two winters - will see

Pretty much ready here, wood supply is good. doing some rewiring on my BL right now. I brought my water temperature display to the front so I don't have to go around to the back of the boiler. Wiring draft blower so I can turn off the blower on the front with a light switch. Going to use Slimjim's wiring diagram so the draft blower will shut off if the water temp gets too low or when the wood is almost gone.
Looks like you're all set, Maxnchej on your heating fuel. Enjoy your burn this winter.
We've finally cooled off this week in west central Wisconsin, in the low normal 60'sF, had my first frost last night. I'm still holding off on the wood burning for a few more weeks unless Mother nature decides differently for me.

Let us know how the 100 plate Hx works for you. I had considered doing the same thing but I went with a 3 speed Grundfos to up the water flow a bit from the taco 009 my unit came with. At the moment it's pushing the water from the OWB through a 50 plate Hx in the house. Roger

K rodger I won't no till it gets real cold! I was maxed out last winter on those Below zero nights ! Hopefully this does the trick.

More than ready, new G400 shows up in the morning at 8am.
I feel like a little kid the night before christmas.
Checked the forklift, half tank of gas.
Unfortunately picking corn so may have to wait till I can get a chance to remove ole smoky.

Know the feeling mlappin. Have my new G400 set and wired but waiting on a few parts to finish the plumbing. My unit is about 1/3 inside my enclosed wood shed so I wasn't going to be able to see the red L.E.D. warning light for problems from the house. Had a dusk to dawn light by the door I wasn't using anymore since I went to a motion detector light. The factory said the circuitry could accommodate an additional L.E.D. light but after looking at it, I removed the warning light, gutted out the dusk to dawn light and positioned the warning L.E.D. inside it and ran the leads from the control panel to the light. All weather proof and now will be able to see any problems the light detects from my easy chair. 72 degrees here in south central Wisconsin today but supposed to be cooling off to near normal levels by the weekend. Hope to have all ready to go in a week or so assuming all the parts arrive ok.

I lucked out on that one, once the G400 is in place I’ll be able to look out my bedroom window, office window or kitchen window and be able to see the indicator light.

I have about 11 cord stacked in my woodshed and another 5 or 6 ready to be cut, split, and brought in if I need them.
Here's a pic of inside my shed

29 cords? Aren’y you just the little over achiever? ;D
I have the 14 cord from last winter I cut and at last count another 72 dying ash to cut down and process.

I played the creosote clogged game for too long, if I am going toburn wood I want to get every last btu I can and hopefully use less of it.

I have about 14 cords cut, split and stacked for this year's use. This past weekend me and the wife cut, split and stacked 3 cords of Hackberry that had been cut to 8 foot length more than a year ago. The property owner had hired someone to cut down and haul away the tree and he died the night after he cut it down. We brought it home and cut it to length, split and stacked it and it is really dry. I think it would burn by the end of winter.

I think I'm good for the year. Twenty five cord in the front yard, five on pallets ready to be forked over, five by the burner and fifteen in the back.

mlappin, I'm curious to know how you like that new G400. I've been thinking about getting another unit (I plan to keep the BL2840 for the barn) for my house. Looking at the G200 and the P&M 250 gassers.

I’m very pleased with my G400 so far, had some cold temps Monday, woke up to -3F with a -25F windchill. Refilled it after getting back from physical therapy and turned the shop back up to 65 and it kept up just fine with the snow melt running as well.
I wrote a review in the Heatmaster forum if your interested.

Cando,
How far is your barn to the house?
If not too far, maybe just get a bigger stove and heat both with the same fire?
I wouldn't get another gasser. I've had a couple and now have the old style. Wouldn't go back to a gasser unless it was only option to burn wood.
Keep in mind as you ask for feedback that most people will say that what they are running is awesome. When you spend that much money on something, it has to be great.

But you haven’t had a G Series gasser ;)
The MF E series are very efficient but still burn more than a gasser, I was mainly looking at wood consumption. I already tried to burn only dry wood anyway’s as it drastically cut down on condensation and creosote on my old homebuilt natural draft.
-
Agreed mlappin, I haven't had a G series. That probably would have been next stove had I stayed in town.
As a tree service guy, I don't really think about quantity as much as I would if I had to go get it all on my own time. Right now I actually wish I was burning more wood because I have so much lying around and its probably gonna rot before I get to it. Next year should have a shop built so that will eat some wood.
