Title: E1450 Season start up wierdness
Post by: UPSGuy03 on October 03, 2015, 06:36:59 AM
Hi all .. so last weeekend i figured i would fire her up after sitting for the summer months. after a Normal shutdown in march, when i went to start her up, the on/off switch ( its the switch that has a breaker in it?) had stopped working or tripped or went bad i dont know.. but anyway orderd a new one and will install and hopefully be up and running today.
Question is .... has anyone else had this hapen? the thing is only a year old so im wondering if its just a bad Mexican switch or should i be looking for something else wrong?
Nothing has changed since shutdown so im just kinda shrugging my shoulders?

Welcome to the life of a farmer, always have stuff that needs repaired even though it was fine when parked.

Had that just last week, scale on the baler worked perfect when I parked it, used it again less than a week later and within 100 feet said the baler weighed negative 56000 lbs.

In this day and age wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it was a mexican or china switch.

UPSguy03 - I don't have the E-1450, I have the E-1400 and (knocking on wood) I haven't had any problems with the electrical in mine.  The only problem I've bumped into is the weld seams that make up the welded in place air channel has separated a bit leaving a bit of crack.  I contacted CB and they said it was nothing to worry about.  Because it was in the vicinity of the water jacket, I hired a welder and welded it closed for me.  On the up side he said he was happy to see the way I was taking care of it and performing all of the maintenance.

It's not cold enough yet to fire up the E-1400.  I'm running the oil burner to take the chill off in the evening and during the day, Sunday.  I think I'll wait 'til later in the month to fire mine up for the season.  Good luck with your 1450.  I hope you have a hassle free heating season.  Roger

Did the switch turn the lights on and not the controller or was everything dead

everything from the switch forward was dead.. no lights, fans or controller.. if i wiggled the switch it would beep ( i had the bypass open) so after replacing the switch all is good now.
