Title: Site glass ?
Post by: Uponthehill on October 25, 2015, 08:11:50 PM
Has anyone ever installed a sight glass in you're boiler system. I would like to see the water flow as well as keep an eye on the water color. Mine is clear now, but I still like the idea of seeing the water. I've all but purchased a sprinkler sight glass and don't think I would have an issue with the high temps, but no manufacturer will give their blessing. It is made of brass and glass. I don't see an issue ...   Anyone ?

Stay warm,,,

I used one meant for hydraulic oil for my system, will easily handle the temps in a OWB. Think I bought it from WW Grainger. Try Burtons Surplus Center first, will be much friendlier to your wallet.

I have a sight glass in my lines with a paddle wheel in it. Like you said it comes in handy to see the color of the water and see how fast it is running. Gem sensors roto flo

My water filter has a clear housing. I watched it to make sure all the air was out of the lines after my installation. It also let me know my boiler was full of rust.
