Title: Jonas vs. Buford
Post by: Bluegrass Wood Burner on January 24, 2016, 04:52:28 PM
Me and my wife named our Boiler Buford the Dragon. Old Buford been doing a good job battling winter storm Jonas. We had 1/4 inch ice and 12 inches of snow and got down to 8 above last night. Now here in Ky. That's a bad storm. Buford Not had a bit of trouble keeping up on heat. My wood pile was covered with plastic and  a little hard to pull plastic back to get wood out but all is well. Way to go Buford.

Glad to hear that your OWB kept you warm through the storm.  Enjoy the heat.  Roger

Nice feeling having a warm house during a bad storm. Glad to hear hear you got through the storm well. Saw on the news a lot of people spent the night stuck in their cars on I-75 in Ky.

Had my OWB for a little over a year and looking back through my life I fought a lot of Jonas like storms in a lot of other ways. Only regret I have concerning my owb is I wished I had put one in 36 years ago. Would have saved myself enough money to have bought a farm. Amazing what we look back and wish. This being my second winter I have learnt a lot and am using a lot less wood this year. I overfilled a lot last year and ended up with the checker size charcoal peices. This year I just put what I think it needs for 12 hours. Mush better results. Last year I kept cramming her full.

I am on my second winter as well, and like yourself, I learned not to stuff every inch full of wood. Seems like it will burn as much as you can cram in there.
