I'm looking at a 04 5648 it's in good condition but has 12 yrs on it they're asking 5000 for it seems pretty high any suggestions on a realistic price on this.

Sounds very high for a 12 year old unit. It's all about condition, how well it has been maintained and the scary thing about a used OWF is how well was the water in the water jacket was taken care of with treatment. Owner probably paid just under $7,000 for it 12 years ago. If unit is in great shape I would think something like $2,800 - $3,000 would still be enough. If not treated right and taken care of previously, it could be one big problem. Look for pitting and corrosion in lower ash line area, corners and bottom which would mean thinning metal.

Unless its in excellent condition, $5000 seems high for a stove that old. Take a good look at the stove, if it checks out you can always offer him less.
