What is the first thing to look for when a BL 2840 won't have the fan come on to start a burn? I have power and it comes on and goes through its cycle, but fan won't come on. >:D

 Hey ijon, When you say you have power and its going through its cycle I am assuming you mean the Johnson control is working but just the fan is inoperative correct?
 If that's the case I would shut of the power to the furnace, remove the junction box cover and verify your connections are tight.
 If they are ok, I would remove the fan wires from the box and jump the fan directly with an extension cord as it is a 115 volt motor - if it still doesn't work its dead.
 That would be my suggestion. In the mean time you could open the ash pan door every once in a while to get the stove up to temp.

I pulled up the wiring diagram on a BL series. if your damper is opening, and you have all good connections to the fan a very real possibility is the fan motor is bad. It can’t be the high temp cutout if the damper still opens.

On mine the damper door is a flap after the fan that is only forced open by the air from the fan, and weighted to close after fan shuts off.

Crow is correct. P&M uses a gravity damper. When the blower kicks on it blows the damper open and when the blower kicks off the damper simply falls shut, no springs or solenoids involved. Check the connections in the junction box, there is a wiring diagram in the manual. If that is not it jump the blower with an extension cord like Crow said, if it still will not start you need to replace it.

If your fan is no good, an option until you get a replacement, is to run a shop vac in "blow". The vacuum can act as the fan.

I used this site to do a lot of research prior to and after my purchase. Took some of the veteran advice and now have extra fan & pumps "on the shelf". The way I have it figured is that as long as I have them in stock, they will never fail. My fan is wired with a plug on the cord to shorten my replacement time.  Stay warm...

I have an extra pump but no fan.  Where did you buy it from? I don't have a dealer anywhere close to me.

I wonder if they are the same fan as the Optimizer, I can't get on the P and M website right now.

I also thought my fan was shot then found out about the short cycle setting which was keeping it from coming on. When you switch off, the A419 stops it from restarting until the set point times out. That set point might have been bumped up to 15-20 minutes....Reset it to five or so
Don't be afraid to call the factory with questions as well...
