Had to finally break down a buy a new truck, another mortgage payment.

My fathers 99 cummins has 641,000 miles on it. My 99 cummins has almost 300,000.
I refuse to buy a “NEW” vehicle when they are gonna start rusting out in less than 10 years anyways.
I’ll buy brand new hay equipment, but that makes me money year after year and I even get to depreciate it.
I refuse to drop $350,000 plus on a new combine though when a $150,000 will work just the same and isn’t a DEF and sensor laden POS.

I have been looking for another used pickup for two years now, it dint make any sense to buy used with 200k on it for 30k. I here you about the DEF, I was not really impressed. Told the sales guy I wanted the old 68 3500 that was out on the back forty.

I'm with ya there. My '05 2500 Dodge diesel has small holes rusted through behind both front tires, drivers side rocker panel, and it looks like the cab corners aren't far behind.
It's been a very reliable pickup, but I expected it's body to last for at least 300k miles(just over 200k now).
Oh well, I'm sure my wife would have liked to get a bunch more miles outta me before my body went south!

No delete kits yet for this truck, a few more months.
16 GMC 2500 with a Duramax.
My 07 Silverado with a Duramax will smoke this new one until 70 mph then I think the new one will take it.
250000 on the 07 and still kicking

I have the 05 duramax best truck I ever had. I just have a little over hundred thousand just getting broken in I have it since it was new! It should last me for ever

Well I don't have a diesel like you guys but my 05 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 has 274k on it, original motor and trans still. I bought it new and can't see buying something else until the motor gives up the ghost or the tranny does. Body is still in good shape, small bubbles here and there around the wheel wells but rockers and cab corners are good so far. I can't see spending 45k on a new truck or 20k on a used truck that has 100k miles on it and I will have to start fixing stuff on just the same why I fix stuff on my 05 as it breaks.

I own a 2003 ram 2500 5.9 cummins quad cab long box 4x4 with a 6 speed on the floor. It's a big beast to park but can haul anything I need. 350000km cab is in great shape but box wheel wells are gone. I have a brand new never seen the road replacement box for it just need to paint it silver from white and truck will look new again. My son wants to buy it from me but hell I will have to make monthly payments just to say I have a new truck when there is nothing wrong with what I have now.

A guy I meet had the twin to my truck, he pulled campers coast to coast for a living. He had almost a million and a half on his, two trannys, one turbo, a few sets of injectors and the usual repairs. Was still going strong till he hit a moose out east and totalled it. You can't beat the cummins engine, they are bulletproof with regular maintenance.
