Hi all, perhaps some of you smarter than me folks can teach me how to convert square feet to linear feet (math was never one of my strong classes when I was in school). We're repairing a tongue and groove floor in our dining room where some of the old boards need replacing. The boards measure 3 1/4 inches wide. I need to replace approximately 30 sq ft of floor. If there is a formula out there, please share it with me so I will know how to do this again in the future. Thanks! Roger

Do they cover 3” when installed or are they actually 3 1/4” once laid down?
If they cover 3” then it takes 4 linear feet of 3” wide board to cover one square foot.
Or think 4 one foot long pieces 3” wide covers 1 sq ft.
One square foot covers 144 square inches.
Take the actual width of coverage and divide that into 144.
It would take 44.3 inches of 3.25” board to cover 144 sq inches or one square foot.

Roger,
Not shure I can explain this right, If you have a 10" wide board 10 ft long that would be 10 lineal feet.
3" wide board 10 feet long would still be 10 lineal feet,
I could be very wrong also

right, linear feet is the same regardless of width, however converting linear feet to square feet requires the width to be figured in.
To make it real easy a 12” wide board 10 feet long will cover 10 square feet, a 6” wide board 10 foot long will cover 5 square feet.
