Title: soon to be new Heatmaster G200
Post by: mf40diesel on October 14, 2016, 06:43:27 AM
Hello all,  new to the forum here.  Thought I would take just a moment to introduce myself.  Live in the Western Maine Foothills, after seemingly much research I have just pulled the trigger on a new G200 Heatmaster.

Over the last couple months I have run my piping and power out to the slab, which is also poured.  Now just awaiting the actual setting of the boiler and plumbing up the internal connections.  Very excited.

Purchased the Logstor piping from SlimJim, who also helped me lay the pipe.  Great experience.  Quite the rolling factory he has there.  Slated for an install Nov 1 when I get home from Sea.  Greatly looking forward to it.

You'll love it. I assume that you've never owned a owb before. I'm sure you'll be impressed but you would really be impressed if you came from a conventional owb to the gasser like it did. Post some pics when you can!

Oh yah, the difference in wood consumption is amazing.

I am really excited, as you can likely tell.  Been burning wood my whole life.... Dad used to make me handsplit all the wood when I was a kid.

We have 65 acres of mixed forest to draw off, plus neighbors that want to maintain views that don't burn wood (win there).  Forestry is my passion actually, I have an old Timberjack skidder, and any excuse to get on it and cut a hitch is worth it for me.

While I work in the oil industry,  I am still really looking forward to not burning any.  I will post some pics soon.  As you can tell, real new to this forum.

I might have to get you to meet at the bottom of the hill with that John Deere to pull the Magic Bus and boiler up that hill, I think I was at 12 mph when we crested it the last time!

Id like to find a smaller skidder someday, we have 50+ acres.

Even have natural gas here and would still rather cut wood than give it to a faceless utility.

Slim.... you just let me know... I'll be at the bottom of the hill.  That Deere would love to have that notch on her belt!  Incidentally,  if you come up the back side of the hill it's not nearly as steep.

Hope that fair ended well... weather was pretty awesome the whole time.

You haven't installed the four wheel drive in the bus yet?

The hill leading to his driveway makes your road look like level ground!

Update, Emily and Ollie's Magic Liberty Bus made it to the top without missing a stroke, we finished up the install last night and John is now heating with wood, I think he and the whole family are exited!
Here are a few pics.

So typically, when I get home from work my internet and especially forum involvement drops to nil. This time has been no different. However really wanted to give a shout out to Richard, Mikey B and heatmaster. Had a wonderful experience with those two characters!  Learned a ton, and am real impressed with the setup. Unit so far seems excellent. This is the first cool night so tonight is the first decent test. But loving it so far.

Thanks again fellas. Also I gotta say, this is the first day that I didn't see Richard or Mikey. I missed them too.  Haha

I’m actually hoping for some real cold weather this winter, polar vortex anyone?

Update:  after the first decently cold morning woke up, boiler at 176 I believe it was completing a heating cycle. Opened her up, nice bed of coals, but almost no actual wood left!  Temps were around 26 last night. It seems that I should have put more wood in last night.  Learning curve for sure.

mf40diesel;  Congratulations!   Looks like a really nice set up.  You'll soon be asking yourself why you waited so long to have an owb installed. You can't go wrong with Slimjim, he knows his stuff and is always willing to share his knowledge with those who seek it out ans from the looks of it, he does quality stuff too.  As for the coal bed at the end 12 hours; if you can time it that all that's left at the end of 12 hours is a nice bed of coals, you're doing great.  The goal is not to fill it too full, you want just enough for 12 hours.  That's easier said than done, this is my 6th season heating my home and DHW with my Central Boiler E-Classic 1400 and I'm still trying to obtain perfection.  Good luck with your new toy and enjoy the warmth of wood heat.  Roger

Another nice thing about the G series, they are quick to recover and I’ve yet to be able to end up with too much of a coal bed unlike how picky some other gasifiers are about a perfect coal bed.
