Just wondering how deep everyone buried their lines. I understand if you are going under a driveway or going to be driving over it, it is necessary to go deep. Any other reason to bury them more than a foot or so down?

I went 4 feet down. This is the frost line in my area, but probably overkill, and probably no advantage to going that deep. Plus is that if the line needs replacing, I will leave it where it is and install a new line around 2 feet.

18-24” should be plenty deep. I buried Logstor, buried it four foot deep and thru a piece of SCH80 PVC under the main drive and placed sand around it, between semi’s, grain trucks, fertilizer trucks and the occasional cement truck, that section of drive see’s some serious tonnage each year.

I went about 18" deep direct burial of Logstor. I threw some sand around the pipe before I back filled because my soil is rocky.

I buried mine 6' down but I included a potable water line with a yard faucet at the boiler and garden and a yard faucet in my shed also. I have my own mini excavator so it might have been a little easier for me. I also buried a 3/4" cheap black plastic line to run my electrical line to the boiler.

As did I , still kept it shallow though, I can drain my hydrant line in the basement no problem and I used some freeze proof line a friend uses in his pastures for rotational grazing, he just uses a one bottom plow to install his water lines. By time it’s cold enough here for a few feet of frost to become a concern I have very little use for that hydrant anyways once its that cold.

Right around 2' with the Thermopex, I also used some grey conduit flexible tubing for the power. Glad to have a tractor because by hand wouldn't work. Dug the trench with a 3800 Kubota and I had one boulder so big I could only roll it out.

I got mostly ledge so I put my logstor in a 6 inch drain pipe and put a 8 inch culvert over that where I drive over it occasionally. I know it is over kill but I ruined my first pipe. Made damn sure I learned from my mistake that stuff is expensive.
