Title: Crazy Weather
Post by: Banna on January 09, 2017, 07:17:04 AM
High this past Saturday was 25, low 6. This Thursday the high is going to be 65, lows in the 50's.

Its been pretty mild so far this year, until this past weekend. I sure can tell a difference in wood use when its colder. I don't see how you guys up North keep up.

Better insulation and windows? Of course farther south you get you need both to keep up with AC duties.

For the most part if windy days its harder to heat something the structure needs tightened up, if the same holds true on extremely cold days needs better windows and insulation.

Wish I had my shop spray foamed….

Well it was supposed to be in the mid thirties by now and raining, instead its still cold and snowing, warm crap is supposed to be here by morning. Sleet, freezing rain, then rain. And of course the wife had her doctors appointment moved up a day to tomorrow instead of Wednesday. Luckily aint till 1:45 pm, hopefully the roads are fit by then or all the idjits will be in a ditch by then.

I am shutdown and have been for the last week or so, temperatures have reached 80s around here and 60s are the norm for the last few days. Crazy indeed!

Wow, with those temps we’d have the central AC running.

Normally I don’t even start burning wood in the fall till it’s consistently below freezing at night.

It was 70 here this past Saturday. Mid 60's this week, lows in the 50's. Not looking like temps will be dropping until late next week.

Low wood usage this year I guess

And there's some politician sitting there saying What climate change? Never heard of global warming. We used to have 4 seasons now you can't tell one from another. We used to have frost in the ground in the winter and snow and it was cold , not the last couple years. Mud season was in April when the ground thawed , not anymore. We had a one of the driest summers in years , but we sure made up for it lately. Times are changing and I guess we all better get prepared to make changes of our own.

LOL for sure, I have  been in shorts and sandals for the last two weeks and it seems it'll stay just as for the next coming week too. Stove is still shutdown and it'll remain as such yet for another week.

Up here in Wisconsin the week before was -10 and 30 mph winds. Was losing my wood stove almost 3 times a day.  Was going about 11 hours from a load of wood.  Now it's in the 40s and I only fill it once a day.
