Title: Weather
Post by: Roger2561 on January 11, 2017, 07:48:16 AM
Okay, is this the type of weather we can expect for the rest of this winter here in new england?  Monday morning was a few degrees below zero; yesterday morning it was zero; this morning it was 31 degrees (raining) and climbing the last time I checked, with the rest of the week to be in the 30's and 40's only to return to the teens and 20's over the weekend.  I believe last week's weather was similar to this week's and I think the forecast for next week shows approximately the same weather pattern.  It becomes difficult to know how much wood to add to the OWB to last for 12 hours without overfilling it.  Roger

Monday and yesterday no one wanted to go outside it was that cold. Today we worked outside in short sleeves. I looked at the long range predicted forecast and it looks like this clear through Febuary. I kind of wish it would stay colder I am going to have a huge mess to clean up in the spring when everything finally dries up. Plus we usually rely on the ground to freeze so I can get to a lot of the trees I want to cut for my firewood for next season. We have mud season already.

In the fall I looked at the long range forecast for my area of NH and it said cold and with more snow than usual.  We've had 3 total snowfalls (I'm reluctant to call them snow storms) ranging in 5 inches, 5 inches and 6 inches respectively, it's a far cry from "normal".  Granted it's still only mid January but come on, to miss it this bad?  Okay my rant is over.  I feel better now.   :)  Roger

It's not so much that's it's warm, it's that the temps fluctuate in the extremes; below zero one day, in the 40's approaching the 50's the next.  Roger

It's supposed to hit the 50's tomorrow but only in the mid 20's Saturday and Sunday and then return to the upper 30's and lower 40's through next week.  Roger

It has been all over the place here too. -15 to 50 from one day to the next. One thing we don't have is snow. Cattle have been able to graze the corn stalks and hay fields better than ever. Saved us a lot of money on feed this winter. But, ice storm predicted for tomorrow into Monday. All the weather genius' are predicting 27 hours of freezing rain to be followed by highes in the 50's by the middle of the week. ???
