Title: Which test kit
Post by: aarmga on March 31, 2017, 04:31:52 PM
Would any of these test kits work for my outside wood burner?  They all test what I need to test but I'm not sure if the range of nitrates goes high enough. They only claim 50ppm.  If not where can I get the right test kit for me?

Wood Boiler Solutions is who makes the kits that Nature's Comfort uses. They are located in Waupun.

That was gonna be my suggestion. Both test kits you show are for drinking water, not boiler water.

I picked up the one on the left from Menards just for sh*ts and giggles. Iron, copper, lead, hardness were all at zero with the test for bacteria and pesticides being negative. Feel pretty good about the new water softener, I have a tritiation kit for testing hardness, at 38 grains out of the drinking water tap at the sink, at 0 out of the regular tap at the sink.

You really need a kit for boiler water, it will test at much higher levels of nitrates and might cover a few other things as well.
