Title: Too early
Post by: coolidge on August 29, 2017, 06:48:38 PM
Wife asked when I was going to start the boiler. Never even hit 70 today.

This will be only the third summer in recorded history here that it didn’t hit 90 at least once.

Corn doesn’t look bad, actually might be pretty surprising when we start picking. The soybeans are gonna suck, period.

Well I hate too say it but I had to lite the boiler.
SIL is staying with us for the weekend with her 7 month old, figured 64 in the house might be a bit chilly for the little guy.

Mine runs all summer. I like the hot water.
We're showing this weekend, the heat feels mighty good. Chilly damp weather.

How much wood do you burn over the summer supplying hot water? It doesn't cost me that much a month to run my 50 gal electric hot water heater and I'm pretty sure I'd burn through more wood than it's worth.

I've never measured precisely, I burn up scrap laying around. It's just a few pieces a day. I've got four kids and it does hot water for a rental cabin too. 7 people total. Well worth it. I'd never have hot water for the last shower otherwise.
