Title: Damper % OFF
Post by: Dillon1630 on January 08, 2018, 07:14:53 AM
Noticed a few days ago that my control panel reads "Damper % OFF" all the time.  The damper is working fine, but the digital screen never changes.  Anyone have this problem??

Yes I will call your dealer immediately and let him know what is going on either that or call the manufacturer directly

I powered it off and back on and it is working for now.  Maybe just a glitch.

Maybe, I would let your dealer know and also the manufacturer. Are you still within the 1 year warranty on electronics?

Is the damper motor disc stuck shut? On the last year or two's models the control shows the actual position of the damper.

Yes, I'm still within the one year warranty.  The damper was not stuck, although it has stuck before.  It was 100% open when I checked it but the control panel was showing OFF.  I watched it all day and it was moving correctly and the monitor always read OFF.  When I did the restart, it starting working again.  I will watch it for a few days and also call my dealer.  I have already called about the damper sticking, but it only did it twice early on and has not stuck since.  It shows a little bit of creosote on the plate, but not much.  I'm not sure how much is considered a problem.  It's a 2017 model and I was told it was made after the updates had been made to the damper.  It's too cold to take it apart now and check.

Hmm... Sounds like a glitch in the control then. ? Weird.
I have had a few 2017 models stick early on this fall when they were idling a lot. Cold weather cured that. I'd take the disc off and scrape it once a year just to be safe.
