Is there any problem welding cast iron to steel? I need to replace the jacks on the back of my boiler trailer and was thinking about welding a couple of high lift type on instead. http://www.tractorsupply.com/trailer-jacks/farm-jack-48-in--0115902 (http://www.tractorsupply.com/trailer-jacks/farm-jack-48-in--0115902)
Will welding them make them unsafe?

Well it looks like I found the answer with some google searches. It looks like if I MIG weld cast iron it will crack when it cools. It may be possible to stick weld with the right rods if you know what you are doing. I am terrible at stick welding and don't even want to think about trying it.
Is there anything similar that would work instead of the hi-jacks? I want something that only takes a few seconds to use.

And if anyone is interested, here are some pictures from when I built it.

				309 stainless steel stick
preheat if you can and wrap it up when you are done
cast iron is tricky stuff,  you have to reduce the amount of thermal shock to make it work
if you don`t preheat it could fracture the cast when you strke the arc
and if you don`t wrap it when done, it will crack beside the weld because it contracts to fast when cooling
best i can do to help you, you could try MIG but i wouldn`t recommend it
