Title: propane prices
Post by: kjw58 on May 19, 2011, 05:48:58 AM
I see in another post on this site where guys are talking about $4-$5 dollar propane prices!!!  Are you guys serious ?   I had my tank filled last summer for around $2 a gallon here in s.e.michigan.  What are you guys paying for propane and where are you located ?
If these prices are what is headed our way my owb is going to pay for itself sooner than I thought it would !!

I guess we shouldn't be to suprised by this the oil companies have gotten away with hosing us good, now the propane guys figure they can get away with it to.  :bash:  Like I said in the earlier post I filled up last august and hopefully won't have to buy it again for a long time!!

I am in the Mid-Michigan area.  Had my first fill up last year at $1.39/gal anything after that would be $1.79 up until end of April.  Have not yet had the pleasure of calling them to fill what we used when I ran out of wood this year.  I could easily see $2 +.  Guess I better fire up my $4.50/gal chainsaw.  It is nice to know I can cut a couple cords for $8 -$10 with my saw, probably spend that in a few hours of propane use.  Cutting wood just might get me back in shape, propane just makes me ill and lazy thinking about how to buy it.  Wood is for heat and cooking ribs and steak, have yet to find a good use for propane.

Ah, yes! Sweet revenge indeed!. My propane guy doesn't call me anymore. Of course, the boiler sits where he can see it doing it's thing before he pulls in the driveway. ;D

$1.89/gal here in SW Missouri.

There used to be an index that you could follow on propane pricing to get a feel on how it was trending, but I haven't been able to find it for a couple of years.

Propane prices..I dont get it...The more you use the less it is per gallon.. why isnt #2 heating oil like that?? lol ..I have a kitchen gas range stove.. I get filled up once a yr pretty much..Last fill up was  back in the fall.. It was at $5 a gallon for me cause l use it just for a kitchen stove... Over all it cost me about $100 a yr to run a gas kitchen stove..Id probably pay that a yr If I had a electric  kitchen stove..Heating oil isnt like that..The price is the price..if you use 100 gallons or 500 gallons a yr you still pay the current or budget price..Why is propane or "country gas" different..More you use, you get a cheaper price..I would think Id get the cheaper price since Im not costing the propane company money execpt that one delivery.. What do you guys think..Just curious..

Last year paid under $3 a gallon for cabin in northern nh.this year the lock rate is $3.39 sucks to pay $2400 a year to heat a empty house, but I guess I break even since I don't spend A dime to heat primary home.

Wow, some of you guys are really having to pay alot for LP. I live in the midwest and my last contract price was $1.67. Why the huge difference in pricing due to location?

I filled the tank on my house in November at $2.19 a gallon in Central Illinois. I've got my OWB hooked up now and haven't used a drop since and it's still sitting at 22%.  I still have a 250 gal tank on the shop but it's at 55% and I only run the heater when I'm out there.  Next year the shop will be heated with the OWB so I won't have to buy propane ever again! Everything else in my house is all electric
