What size does everyone cut there fire wood?..Just curious... If you burn 3 or 4 foot wood length...Its it worth burning that size wood? Is it a waste at that size? Cut smaller wood get more wood out of grapple load?...i split mine 25 inches..only cause its the max my splitter will do. Just curious.

i cut mine 16 to 20 inches long and try not to split any unless they are too heavy to lift. I turn them sideways and roll them in the door (door is 24 x 24) when ibuilt the OWB i sold the wood splitter! i cut mostly dead elm and they dont get that big here anymore. one that is 16 inches at the trunk is huge in these parts anymore. if there are a fe bigger ones i just use the axe

18 inch in length. Split anything too heavy for the wife to pick up. ( which is around 10 inch or bigger in diameter. )

Well I was cutting mine at 12'' because at my old house we had one small stove and that was the max that would fit. It was just too much trouble to cut some 12'' for the small stove and some 18'' for the big stove. But with new stove I will go back to cutting 18''-22'' like I have always done.

I try to cut it about 20 to 24 inches, my son cut some for me that was smaller so I just put more pieces in each loading.

I use to burn bigger, longer, rounds, but this year I burned split stuff, about 18" long. It seemed to burn better for me. I used to burn anything that fit in there with the door closed, but like this better. Plus, it's easier on the back.
Definitely alot more work though (cutting and splitting)

Scratch- I bet you had a cleaner burn too. Solid logs seems to smolder alot more between burns, compared to split.
